Many Montreal tennis players have noticed weird yellow, white or blue lines popping up across the city's outdoor tennis courts and wondered to themselves what these lines were for. The answer? North America's hottest sport, Pickleball.
A mix of tennis, badminton and ping pong, the game is growing in popularity across the country but especially in Quebec. It's easy to learn for kids and adults alike, it's easy on the knees and it's highly social, as it is mostly played in doubles. And it's a great way to work up a sweat without being as physically demanding as tennis can be.
Club CDL has four courts on which Pickleball is played, but more importantly, the Club is home to Canada's top-ranked doubles Pickleball player, Ernesto Fajardo. Ernesto is fresh off of winning the Triple Crown at the Central Canada Championship as well as winning Gold in Mixed Doubles at the Canadian Nationals and Silver in Men's Doubles at the same tournament. He travels North America representing Club CDL and Canada, having most recently won Bronze at the Gamma Classic in Pittsburgh.
Ernesto runs many Pickleball camps at Club CDL, and many of our members have benefited from his expertise.
Pickleball is catching on quickly in this city, and Club CDL is quickly becoming THE place to play. TSN 690 Radio's Shaun Starr, Dave Trentadue and Mitch Gallo can be found playing Pickleball regularly at the Club.
Be sure to keep your eyes peeled to the Club CDL website and social pages for more information on upcoming camps or to book your court! We will also be posting an exclusive one-on-one interview with Ernesto shortly.
